- Short Description
Rising 21,000 feet above India's famed Ganges River is the Shark's Fin, the bladelike precipice of Mount Meru. Its unclaimed summit was a captivating prize for many of the world's top climbers, demanding a punishing triple crown of experience in mountaineering, big-wall expeditions, and alpine climbing--all of which was a siren song to renowned alpinists Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, and Renan Ozturk.
MERU follows the team from their heartbreaking first attempt at the ascent in October 2008, through a series of unexpected crises that strain the trio's faith in the project, and finally the reunion in September 2011 when they returned to make Meru their own.
Winner of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award (Documentary), MERU is a film that captures not just the physical trials of achieving a seemingly impossible feat, but the emotional and mental hurdles that can simultaneously barricade and throw open the path to success.
