MH's house brand insulation did not seem as warm as primaloft. Would make a great mid-layer, but is not really up to the task of being a stand-alone piece in sub zero temps. Also, the length was good in the arms and hem, but the overall fit was way too boxy - might also be a reason why the jacket did not seem as warm compared to other more fitted insulted jackets.
This is going to work great under my snowzilla 2 shell.
I use the jacket for normal everyday use as something quick to throw on. I also use it for outdoor activities, working in the garden, going on a recreational bike ride. I was shoveling mulch in it the other day in a light rain, it kept me very warm and dry. I haven't used it in extreme cold yet, but imagine it will work well as a thermal layer. \n\nThe only downside to it is that the sleeves are a bit short, even for a size medium. Also, it would've been great to have lined pockets, as I feel like if I put my keys in there they could rip the shell. \n\nAll in all, I am very pleased with the jacket thus far.
