When the sun plunges behind Anacapa, ride the last wave in and swap your wettie for the Bateau. The versatile dress can be worn on its own or layered and is made of a supersoft organic cotton/Tencel lyocell fabric blend. It has a sleek, simple scoop neck, three-quarter-length sleeves, subtle contrast ribbing (except black) on the neck and cuffs and a 3-button placket at the hem. The mid-thigh length works well over jeans or leggings.

TENCEL Lyocell

TENCEL® is a branded lyocell fiber that comes from the pulp of eucalyptus trees. The trees are grown on sustainably run farms certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). It is possible to use other sources of cellulose, but eucalyptus trees produce a very high yield of cellulose per acre and give the best quality fiber with the least amount of waste. Therefore we think this process is the best available option.

The wood pulp is dissolved in a non-toxic organic solvent. The solution is extruded through fine holes to produce fiber and the solvent is reclaimed and recycled in a closed-loop process that conserves energy and water - more than 99% of the solvent is recovered and reused. We ensure that the fabric processing of TENCEL® lyocell fiber does not utilize any harmful chemicals (like formaldehyde) sometimes used to finish this type of fabric.

TENCEL can be used in place of other regenerated cellulose fibers such as viscose rayon. The benefits of using TENCEL include the traceable and sustainable origin of the wood pulp, and the use of non-toxic chemicals and solvents in the fiber processing. In addition, TENCEL is a high-tenacity cellulosic fiber, which gives high strength properties to the fabric.
