Early starts and shorter days, mountain summits and shaded belays - maximize the fall climbing season and throw in the Ultralight Down Hoody. It uses top-notch 800-fill-power premium European goose down that traps your heat, and an ultralight yet super tough shell fabric blocks wind and sheds snow with its Deluge DWR (durable water repellent) finish. The sewn-through construction, tight channel pattern and just the right amount of down increases its versatility for use in more moderate temperatures and diverse activities. The slim silhouette (and low-profile, single-pull adjustable hood) maximizes thermal efficiency and suits its ideal uses: belay parka over light layers at crisp crags, minimalist summer alpine bivies and unmatched warmth layered under a shell. Pockets include: two zippered handwarmers and one zippered chest. A drawcord hem helps keep in the heat. Stuffsack included.Deluge® DWR
Because Deluge DWR is so effective at repelling light rain and snow, we can forego the use of a waterproof barrier on Patagonia soft shells thus improving breathability tremendously.
When used on Patagonia hard shells, in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the Deluge DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

If you are looking for light-weight mid-layer jacket this is the one. Fit is good and the size seem to be just right. 5'4" 130 pound Size Small. Considering the weight of the jacket it is warm but does not work alone on the below 32F weather. One thing I notice is that it blocks the wind pretty well... so good for the drizzling windy weather. Anyway I think I can make a good use out of this jacket.
