I'm eager for any and every adventure! Whether it's something fun or gives me "Elvis Legs" and my response will be, "Why not?" My goals are to look back on my life and know that fear never stopped me, that I lived a fulfilled and exciting life. Even when I'm an old woman I will find new ways to push my boundaries. I just want to keep living!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TRAIL RUNNING?
Let's just say I ran before I crawled.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET OUT?
With the stresses of everyday life running is my way to decompress. The more stress I feel, the more I get out on the trails. Running has and will always be my outlet, my therapy. I run to become numb and to feel simultaneously.
HOW DID YOU LEARN?
I was introduced by being part of a running club at a young age. This enticed me to explore the countryside while creating a positive outlet for my never-ending kid energy. Which my parents were extremely thankful for...
WHY DO YOU LOVE TRAIL RUN?
When I get out on a trail, I am in charge of my own destiny. The Earth provides me with the trail, but when I reach a peak and look out at a beautiful view I know that my feet, my heart, and my soul are the only things responsible for taking me to new heights.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FUTURE PLANS?
I plan to run a new half marathon at a new location each year until my legs drop off.
WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO TRAIL RUN?
Trees and water are my motivation when running. Hearing waves crash pushing me to test my pace. And when I see the sun peak through the leaves and feel the warmth of the forest I keep going further just to enjoy the beauty that surrounds me.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT AS A TRAIL RUNNER?
What is your proudest moment while doing this activity? I was asked to run a half marathon 2 days before the race, then a week later run another one... I managed to shave off 20 minutes. Felt good to know I could pull it off straight off the couch.
ANY SCARY MOMENTS OUT ON THE TRAIL?
I think my scariest moment turned into my favourite moment, I was out running on a gloomy day in Michigan and got caught in a summer thunderstorm. The heavens opened and it began to chuck buckets. I was far from home and worried lightning might not be far away. However it only lasted 15-30 minutes and lightning kept its distance. It was one of the most refreshing and cleansing jogs I had ever been on.
Live in the now, nothing lasts forever.
my 5 must-haves
SURFACE SUNSCREENLiving anywhere I have protected my skin, but the California sun is a daily battle for protection. Using spray sunscreen is quick and easy and I get to go out and just enjoy my sport without having to worry about layering or come back like a lobster.
SALOMON X-SCREAMSYou can go from road to trail in the same shoe! Since I have been running over 20 years I need a stable yet light and comfortable shoe. This meets and exceeds my expectations.
FEETURES SOCKSWhen running near or far these socks are comfortable and handle sweat well. I have a pair of these stashed everywhere as they carry over into any shoe.
CEP COMPRESSION SOCKSFor training I love these! When hitting into double digits on a run I can use the help in circulation these puppies provide! during the cool down I appreciate the assistance my muscles get with the compression sock.
ARC'TERYX SENNA TANKThe fit and material of my tank is unbeatable. I like the fact that I can have support in my work out but look cute after.
