This jacket is definitely pricey, but for me, it seems like you get what you pay for. The Fission SL is incredibly light as the SL (Super Light) designation suggests. Even with real feel temperatures dropping well below 0 degrees F here in the northeast this winter, I felt plenty warm while walking around NYC at night with just a t-shirt on underneath. The Gore-Tex finish also means I can wear this jacket in pretty much any sort of inclement winter weather. The other nice thing about the insulation is that it doesn't feel overly warm if you step inside for a bit, so you don't immediately get overheated if you step inside a warm area for a bit.\n\nMy only complaint is that the jacket is definitely noisey because of the lining. I believe the Thermatek insulation is actually laminated to the inside of the lining, and for whatever reason, it makes lots of crinkling/swooshing noises as you move around. It's not enough to bother me to the point of returning the jacket given the many positives, but if you're particular about those sort of things, I would suggest trying it out for a bit first.
