Unnamed peaks in the Lower 48?! Head to mile marker 203 on the edge of Glacier National Park, start hiking and find out. You'll need traction and waterproofing for the snowfields, protection from the sticker brush, and stability for the scree and sheer mileage. Better take the Firebrand II.
  • Waterproof: Three core components make up our B-DRY waterproof system starting with our proprietary tape-sealed polyurethane film bootie. Hydrophobic upper materials keep the shoe watertight while our textile lining wicks sweat away.
  • Outsole: Sawtooth A classic Oboz sole. Sheds mud, offers intense traction, and maintains stability. Sidewall lugs grip off-camber trails while conserving weight.
  • Volume: Standard Shoe Medium-Low volume feet tend to be narrower with lower arches and insteps. Wide Shoe High volume feet tend to be wide with high arches and a high instep, or a combination of these. If you have bunions you may consider a high volume shoe.
  • Width: Mens standard width is C in the heel and D in the forefoot. Patterns and materials in a given model may influence fit. We always recommend trying our footwear on to ensure the best possible fit.
  • Weight: M9 18.3 oz Style No. 21301

A great shoe for the heavyset and wide-heel hiker

Wow what a shoe! Feels right the moment you put it on and needs a very short break-in period. I walked into REI with the intent to buy a pair of Keens like I always did, and the consultant suggested I try those. I put them on and walked in them straight to the cashier. I got my next pair thru Gear-Coop when the first pair started wearing out. For my use and abuse the shoe help up great. A bit wear on the sole and a small hole in the padding at the back of the heel. And it looks great too! The shoe is a good choice for hikers with a wide foot, and the build and sole are built to carry the bulkier amongst us. Excellent grip of pretty much every dry and wet surface.
