The TarantuLace is an unlined leather climbing shoe with asymmetric shape for advanced performance. The RN45 shoe shape is great for upper end performance without hurting your toes. The synthetic leather overlay lacing harness adds great support for entry to mid level climbers and the unlined leather is comfortable and soft. The aggressive rubber heel rand lets you stand in micro edges and the FriXion RS rubber is hard wearing yet sticky for long life. This is great shoe for gym climbers and outdoor climbers that need a one-quiver shoe that does it all.
  • Quick pull lacing harness that delivers a snug precise fit
  • Durable FriXion RS rubber compound for great grip and durability
  • Lined tongue for moisture management

Almost a home run

Shoe has potential but was to loose for me. Great for sport climbing and too roping but not so great for bouldering.

1st pair of shoes

This shoe has fit in very nicely and better than I expected. I wear a mens street shoe size 8.5-9 and this shoe is size 7.Originally this size was a very snug fit, only slightly uncomfortable but definitely wearable and usable. The shoe definitely stretched and formed to my foot as explained by the employees helping me out (thank you to them). The shoes still fit snug but after being broken in they are no longer slightly uncomfortable and a solid comfortable fit. I used to have to take these shoes off after about 20 minutes of climbing but now can keep them on for up to an hour (depending on the intensity of my climbing). The next larger size would have fit comfortably but I am glad I went with a slightly uncomfortable fitted shoe. I use these shoes for mainly climbing at an indoor bouldering gym but I also use them for climbing outdoors (Joshua Tree, CA) and they work great! The laces tend to make a rough sound when I am tying them down (similar to soft nails on a chalkboard) but it is nice to be able to tighten them in different areas of my foot when I need to. Also, one of the metal eyelets have come loose on one side of one shoe but it continues to function and does not interfere for what I use them for.

Good but they stretch out a size

I bought these shoes on the tight size. After months of use, they might have stretched out a full size. I'd recommend these for beginners and people.

Gym climbing shoe

I like the laces for their tightness and adjustability, but they used to give me a blister on the outside of my left ankle. These are also my first pair so I don’t have anything to compare with, but they have yet to fail me. I also just use these to boulder and climb indoors so I don’t know how they would handle outdoors.

First shoe

For a first shoe these do very well for me. I feel more secure and confident than I did when using the rented shoes at my climbing gym. Small foot holds aren't as much of a challenge, rubber feels good on volumes, fit is secure.
