Joshua Tree Campsites with the Gear Coop!

Join us in J-Tree!

Prime season for Joshua Tree is October through March, when the temps are perfect, the days are clear, and the rock cool to the touch. However, as it's a veritable climbing mecca, that means finding campsites can be a crapshoot. Don't risk driving out to the park only to find every campground full to the brim--join the GearCoopers at their group site in Sheep Pass!

Established as a National Monument in 1936 and elevated to a National Park in 1994, Joshua Tree is an exotic refuge in the Mojave Desert known for towering granite formations, vast expanses of crystal-clear sky, and its signature plant: the alien-looking Joshua Tree. Its desert landscape provides a sanctuary of solitude, quiet, and reflection unlike any other place in the country.

Along with miles of hiking trails wandering through pristine desert past historic ranches, mines, and Native American sites, Joshua Tree is a haven for rock climbers. Once an off-season training area for Yosemite big-wall climbers, Joshua Tree's quartz monzonite hills and boulders have become legendary in their own right as a necessary climbing pilgrimage. The park contains a staggering 5,000-plus routes--many of them named classics--with the vast majority being trad routes and boulder problems.
