Considered the best single leather mountaineering boot on the market, this year's evolution of the La Sportiva Men's Nepal Evo GTX Mountaineering Boot takes hardcore climbing boots to another level. From the first step, a new GORE-TEX Duratherm lining makes the boot completely waterproof and warmer for high altitudes and extreme cold. A new breathable tongue and intergrated anatomical elastic snow gaiter keeps the foot drier, managing perspiration and big water droplets. With the addition of the patented 3-D Flex ankle hinge system, and sticky rubber rand the Men's La Sportiva Nepal Evo GTX Mountaineering Boot climbs better than ever. The sole has a new tapered HP3 midsole with shock absorbing polyurethane ("PU") inserts under the heel and the ball of the foot for support. A new IBS (Impact Brake System), designed exclusively with Vibram, softens impact on hard ground and improve traction by 20%.

Durable, adaptable, but a little heavy

These are considered the standard for a reason. Great boot for a wide range of conditions. They are very durable and have been great for Rainier, misc 14ers in the winter, the sierras, and ice climbing. However, now these days there are lighter boots (ie their new nepal model) or the gaitered boots (batura) which may be a better purchase now. I have an 8.5EE foot. I use a 42.5 nepal evo that's stretched wide by a boot fitter

No other options!

These are my most recent acquirement from this past Cyber Monday. Make no mistake that the sale was amazing but these boots are worth every penny full price! I just started breaking them in and they're nothing but a dream. I plan to use them on my upcoming trek to Rainier and compared to my Karakoram's I understand the difference between a full fledged mountaineering boot. The sole is extremely rigid, and the boot rises higher on the calf so it feels like if your legs aren't up to snuff these will snap them like a twig. They fell precise when making contact with any ground surface similar to the feeling I get with La Sportiva's rock climbing shoes which is insane. The only other shoe that is better than this in my opinion is the GTX Cube (for same class at least!)
