GriGri+ is an assisted braking device designed for all climbers and for intensive use. It can be used with all single ropes (optimized for 8.9 to 10.5mm diameter ropes). The reduction handle offers exceptional descent control. Particularly suitable for learning, the GriGri+ has an anti-panic handle and a special mode for comfortable top-rope belay.
  • Diagrams for rope installation engraved on belay device (interior and exterior).
  • Extremely durable, for intensive use, thanks to the stainless steel wear plate.
  • Anti-panic handle: if the user pulls too hard on the handle, the anti-panic function brakes and stops the descent automatically.
  • Belay device with assisted braking for indoors and outdoors, designed for all climbers: hand motions are the same as with classic belay systems: both hands on the rope. A fall is stopped by tightening the hand on the free end of the rope.
  • Can be used with all single ropes, and optimized for 8.9 to 10.5mm diameters. Great durability, for intensive use, thanks to the stainless steel wear plate.

Gri-gri+

Using the Gri-gri+ was so good for the lead belaying experience of my outdoor climbing trip. It was great how the Gri-gri+ can switch from top-rope to lead just by turning a switch.

Maybe good for a beginner, but...

I have to say I was disappointed with this product. I love my GriGri 2, and was intrigued by its new panic mode that locks prevents you from pulling the lever too fast while lowering your partner. It was way to sensitive, and would always engage, so it took me forever to actually lower anyone. Maybe you get used to it and you find that sweet spot, but I didn’t have the patience for it. I could see the value in it for a new belayer, but I would not recommend this over the GriGri2.

Good product, not much of an upgrade from grigri 2

The overall feel of the product is better than the grigri 2, but for the price difference to be made up, the advertised features needed to meet expectations. The main interesting features for me are the panic locking mechanism and the lead belay/ top rope belay switch. The panic lock doors make me feel more comfortable with a person who hasn't belayed me before, but for everyday use it is a little too finicky, and becomes an annoyance. The switching feature is also not as effective as I would have liked. Feeding rope in the lead mode is about equivalent to the grigri 2, which is a little disappointing. The top rope feature is nice for beginners. Overall I wouldn't recommend this over a grigri 2 for anyone except maybe a beginner. The new features are a slight improvement, but they don't add enough value to make up the price difference.

Great Product that could use a few tweaks

The new GriGri+ is an awesome piece of gear. Really optimal for belayers new and experienced. The new steel plate is really nice for longevity of the product, plus adds a little weight, which in my opinion makes the device sit better in your hand while belaying. As always feeding the rope in over the plate causes your rope to twist so to avoid this, you just hold the rope down and feed directly into the device. Some sort of extra protection at this point would be nice. The new belay mode function is nice but the lock mode on it is a little tricky for me as my finger seems to be too big to push it back and forth. Overall a good upgrade from the gri gri 2 but could definitely use some tweaks.
